We offer many options that help you share your loved one's stories and celebrate his or her life, including traditional funeral services or contemporary celebration services.

Personal funeral services, memorials

Sitting area at Thornhill Valley ChapelWe believe in providing services that are tailored to celebrate each life that has been lived. At our funeral home in Spokane Valley, we encourage you to decorate our chapel with any personal items that would aid in portraying the life of your loved one. For example, some families have brought in such things as photographs, golf clubs, paintings, stuffed animals, quilts, hunting trophies and motorized scooters.

At Thornhill Valley Chapel, we believe in the importance of personalization and often say, "If it will fit through the doors, it should be displayed."

WHV 2020 - Level 3We honor veterans

At Thornhill Valley Chapel, we understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Three Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, our staff is knowledgeable in the benefits available to veterans and their families. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran's memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.

Remember your loved one

Contemporary audio-visual equipment in our chapel allows us to create a meaningful and lasting video tribute to your loved one. This presentation can be displayed during the visitation and service and then provided to you and your family for continued sharing in the months and years to come.

Following the service, you and your guests are encouraged to gather in our reception area for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Many people who choose Thornhill Valley Chapel find this a great opportunity to reconnect with family and friends they have not seen for some time, while others enjoy sharing stories.

Cremation

Cremation is important in certain religions and cultures, and more and more people are choosing cremation over more traditional burial options. But, most people aren’t familiar with all of their choices when it comes to cremation. You may choose a direct cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind, a funeral with the body present, followed by cremation or a cremation followed by a celebration of life service.

History

In 1942, Harold and Geneva Thornhill opened the Thornhill Funeral Home on Sprague Avenue in Spokane Valley, Washington. They operated the business for over 25 years in this location before a large retail shopping center was planned for the area. In 1969, they moved the business to its current location at 1400 South Pines Road, conveniently located next to the Pines Cemetery.

Crematory addition, enhancements

To better serve the needs of the Spokane Valley community, Thornhill Valley Chapel was enlarged in 1993 to add a crematory facility and a second small chapel.

In 1999, Thornhill Valley Chapel became an honored Dignity Memorial® provider. In 2013, updates were made to the funeral home, including a dedicated area for serving refreshments for receptions and catered services.

Events in Spokane Valley

In addition to helping families honor and memorialize their loved ones, our funeral home serves as a gathering place for community organizations and special events, such as Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Day ceremonies, Chamber of Commerce events, musical group rehearsals and an annual holiday memorial service.

At Thornhill Valley Chapel, we are committed to maintaining our ties to the Spokane Valley community and meeting its ever-changing needs.
